Classrooms for rent in Singapore
Classroom rental by the hour: desks, a whiteboard and a door that shuts, for tuition, enrichment classes and course series.
Do the desks move?
It sounds trivial and it decides your lesson. Some rooms have fixed rows facing a board: excellent for a lecture, hopeless the moment you want pairs. Others have light folding tables you can rearrange in two minutes, which is what most tuition and enrichment actually needs. A third group has no desks at all, because the room is a dance or multi-purpose studio tagged for teaching; those are fine for movement and discussion and painful for anything written. Ask the host whether the furniture moves and how long a reset takes, because you are paying for that time as well.
Sightlines, the board and the back row
A classroom is judged from its worst seat, and three things go wrong there. A pillar in the middle of the room, which a wide-angle photograph will not show you. A whiteboard mounted where daylight strikes it, so half the board is glare from ten in the morning onwards. And a room longer than it is wide, where the back row simply cannot read normal handwriting. Look for the pillar in the photos, check which way the windows face, and if your teaching lives on the board, favour a squarer room over a bigger one.
Booking a term rather than a lesson
Tuition runs on terms and so should the booking. A recurring booking holds the same room at the same hour for the whole run, which matters more than the rate does: parents will forgive a modest venue and will not forgive a room that changes in week four. Confirm the unit number rather than just the address, since a host may run more than one room in the same building. And if your term crosses a school holiday, settle those weeks when you book instead of trying to drop a session later.
Where classes actually fill
This is the deepest pool of inventory on the platform and it sits centrally, around Chinatown, Bugis, Telok Ayer, Dhoby Ghaut and Maxwell, rather than in the heartland estates where tuition demand is heaviest. That cuts both ways. A city-fringe classroom is easy for secondary students and working adults arriving straight from school or the office, and hard for a parent driving a primary-schooler across the island on a Saturday morning. Pick the station your students already pass through, then filter on everything else.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rent a classroom for tuition in Singapore?
Yes, and it is one of the most common uses of these rooms. Check the house rules on commercial teaching and confirm the max pax, then book the slot recurring so the room is held for the whole term.
How much does it cost to rent a classroom per hour?
From about eighteen dollars an hour for a small room, with the typical space near fifty and larger rooms reaching a hundred and eighty. Weekday daytime slots are the cheapest and Saturday mornings the most contested.
Can I book the same classroom every week?
Yes. Recurring bookings hold your slot across the term so another renter cannot take it mid-run, which is how most tuition and enrichment series are run on the platform.
How many students fit in a rented classroom?
Most rooms take around fifteen comfortably and the larger ones about fifty, though seating style shifts that considerably. Max pax is on every listing and it is a hard limit, so count yourself and any assistant in it.
Do classrooms come with a whiteboard and projector?
Many do, and both are listed in the amenities along with screens and flip charts. Check which way the whiteboard faces, because glare from a mid-morning window makes half of it unreadable from the back row.
Are the rooms suitable for children's enrichment classes?
Some are. Look for movable furniture, a washroom on the same floor and somewhere for parents to wait, and tell the host the age group when you enquire, because house rules on noise and mess differ a great deal between rooms.
