Photography studios for rent in Singapore
Cycloramas, white walls and daylight, with lights and stands included, by the hour.
Three kinds of studio, and the cost of picking wrong
Studios here fall into three groups, and picking the wrong one costs you the shoot. Cyclorama studios have a coved white wall for seamless full-body and product work. Natural-light studios trade strobes for large windows and are the cheaper option if you shoot on daylight. Multi-purpose studios are open rooms with a paper backdrop: fine for headshots, not for anything needing a true infinite background. Lighting kits, C-stands, modifiers and backdrop colours are listed per space; some are included, some are add-ons.
What a studio hour buys, and what it does not
Cyclorama and video studios sit at the top of the range because the build and the ceiling height cost the host real money. Smaller natural-light rooms are a fraction of that. Half-day and full-day rates are common and are usually the right call for anything with a crew, wardrobe changes or a client on set. The hourly rate only wins for a fast headshot session. Check whether lighting is included before you compare two rates; an equipment add-on can close a large gap.
Load-in, ceilings and the things that ruin a shoot
Three specifications decide whether a studio works and none of them are the price. Ceiling height governs what you can light from above and whether a full-length shot is possible. Lift and corridor access decides whether your kit gets upstairs. Power and the number of usable outlets decides how many strobes you can run. All three are on the listing. Read them before booking, because none can be fixed on the day.
Where the shoot spaces actually are
Contrary to the usual assumption, the shoot spaces on GetSpaces are central rather than industrial: Chinatown, Bugis, Orchard, Outram Park and Dhoby Ghaut hold most of them, which is why talent and clients can get to a call time without a car. The catch is what that centrality does to the mix: only part of this page is a dedicated photo or video studio, and a large share of it is dance and multi-purpose rooms with good light and a clear wall. Both can produce the shot; only one comes with a cyc, so read the space type as well as the photos.
Frequently asked questions
Is lighting equipment included?
It varies. Some studios include a strobe kit and modifiers in the hourly rate; others rent them as an add-on. The listing states which, and it's the single biggest reason two studios differ in price.
What's a cyclorama and do I need one?
A cyclorama is a coved wall that curves into the floor, so there's no visible corner, which gives a seamless infinite background for full-body, product and video work. If you only shoot headshots, a paper backdrop is enough and much cheaper.
Can I shoot video in a photo studio?
Usually yes. Filter for spaces tagged for videography if you need soundproofing, a high ceiling or a large cyc. Those are the specifications that differ.
How much time should I book?
Include your setup and teardown in the booking. Most photographers underbook by an hour, and running over is charged.
Can I bring a crew and a client?
Yes, up to the space's max pax. That figure is on the listing and hosts do enforce it, so count everyone including talent and clients.
Is there parking or lift access for equipment?
It varies, and central buildings are the ones most likely to disappoint here: loading bays are shared and lifts are small. Load-in access is listed on each space, so check it before booking if you're bringing heavy kit.
